COMEDY OF MANNERS

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is an adaptation for the stage written by Andrew Davies, who also wrote the iconic BBC TV production back in 1995 starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. This is our first Jane Austen since 1983, before we had moved into the Little Theatre. Although visiting companies have brought her stories to the Little Theatre stage over the years, this is the first time we are producing one here ourselves. Set in Georgian England, men inherit, so the Bennets must ensure their five daughters marry well before their estate is lost to a distant cousin. When Mr Bingley and Mr Darcy arrive in the country, they cause quite a stir, but prejudice towards low social connections may interrupt the course of love… expect period costumes, repressed emotion, a ball, and plenty of romance…

This amateur production of Pride and Prejudice is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
